Delfina Care, a healthcare technology company focused on tackling the maternal health crisis, has raised $17 million in Series A funding to expand its AI-driven platform. The funding round, led by U.S. Venture Partners (USVP), also included investments from ARTIS Ventures, Mayo Clinic, Tokio Marine Future Fund, Story Ventures, SemperVirens, Bread and Butter Ventures, Boutique Ventures, and Chelsea Clinton’s Metrodora Ventures.
Addressing the Maternal Health Crisis
The U.S. faces one of the highest maternal mortality rates among developed nations, with Black women experiencing nearly three times the maternal mortality rate of white women and a 1.4 times higher rate of preterm births. Delfina Care aims to reduce disparities and improve maternal health outcomes by leveraging predictive analytics and AI-powered interventions.
How AI Is Revolutionising Prenatal Care
Founded in 2019, Delfina works with healthcare providers, insurers, and community organisations to provide data-driven maternal health support. By equipping prenatal care teams with AI-powered insights, the platform helps identify high-risk pregnancies early and provides tailored interventions to prevent complications.
“This funding marks a significant milestone in Delfina’s mission to solve the national maternal health crisis,” said Dr. Senan Ebrahim, CEO and Founder of Delfina.
“With this capital, we will expand our reach, serve diverse populations, and further develop our market-leading AI-powered predictive technology to deliver proven results nationwide.”
Proven Impact on Maternal and Infant Health
Delfina’s evidence-based approach has already demonstrated significant improvements in maternal and infant health. Partners using the platform have reported reductions in preterm births, NICU admissions, hypertensive disorders, and gestational diabetes, leading to significant cost savings for healthcare plans. Based on these improved outcomes, Delfina guarantees a 3X cost savings for health plans.
“Since we transformed our practice with Delfina Care, we have seen the positive impact on our pregnant patients every day,” said Dr. Fatimah Lalani, Chief Medical Officer of HOPE Clinic in Houston, Texas. “Thanks to Delfina’s insights, we can now proactively manage cardiovascular and metabolic challenges, allowing our clinicians to provide a new level of proactive care for healthier pregnancy outcomes.”
With this latest round of funding, Delfina is set to scale its operations nationally, expand its reach to underserved communities, and continue advancing AI-driven maternal healthcare solutions that prioritise equity and improved outcomes for mothers and babies.
