Hormona, the female-founded health-tech startup redefining hormone health, has raised $6.7 million in seed funding to expand its AI-powered at-home hormone tracking solution—taking on established players like Flo Health and Clue with a far more comprehensive and proactive approach.
The investment round, led by Voima Ventures and co-led by SuperNode Global VC, also saw participation from DLF Ventures, Nascent Invest, and Techstars, bringing Hormona’s total funding to over $11 million. Inka Mero (Voima Ventures) and Gina King (SuperNode Global), both respected leaders in mission-driven innovation, will join Hormona’s all-female board.
Closing the Gender Gap in Health Innovation
Women’s health remains one of the most underfunded and under-researched areas in medicine—receiving just 2% of global medical research funding. Likewise, all-female founder teams in the UK secured a mere 2% of equity investment in 2024, a drop from 2.5% the year before. Hormona is actively challenging this imbalance by closing the data gap in hormonal health and delivering science-backed, tech-enabled solutions built for women, by women.
Founded in London in 2020 by Karolina Löfqvist (CEO) and Jasmine Tagesson (COO), Hormona was born out of personal experience. Löfqvist, after years of struggling with undiagnosed hormonal issues, set out to create a tool that didn’t rely on guesswork or months of suffering. Tagesson, with a background in creative direction and UX, helped shape a platform that merges clinical accuracy with intuitive design.
“For too long, women have been expected to suffer through hormone issues, waiting until symptoms become unmanageable,” said Löfqvist. “Hormona exists to change that—to put women back in control of their hormonal health. This funding gets us closer to making real-time, lab-free hormone tracking widely accessible.”
Real-Time Hormone Tracking Without the Lab
Unlike other apps that focus on tracking periods or fertility alone, Hormona offers a fully quantitative, AI-driven hormone health platform that tests three key hormones via at-home urine tests—delivering results in under 15 minutes with over 90% accuracy compared to traditional blood tests.
The platform doesn’t just collect data; it interprets long-term hormone patterns and offers personalised insights, lifestyle recommendations, and cycle-specific supplement suggestions. Users can access support for symptoms related to PCOS, irregular cycles, and perimenopause—all from home.
This continuous tracking approach fills a significant gap in the market. Traditional hormone tests can cost up to $174/£149 each and usually provide only a single data point. Hormona’s model offers an affordable, ongoing alternative that integrates seamlessly into daily life—more like checking your blood pressure or glucose levels.
Growing a Global Community—and a Movement
Hormona’s app has reached users in over 190 countries, with 30% month-over-month growth and an impressive 80% 12-month retention rate. The brand has also built a powerful social media presence, with over 100 million Instagram views and more than 5 million TikTok likes—testament to the demand for hormone education and support.
In addition to expanding its consumer offering, Hormona is building out B2B partnerships, enhancing its infrastructure, and growing its team to improve user experience and community engagement.
“Hormona is pioneering a global movement in women’s health,” said Inka Mero of Voima Ventures. “By tackling one of the most overlooked aspects of women’s well-being, they are giving millions of women the tools and knowledge to take control of their lives.”
Gina King from SuperNode Global added:
“Hormona is turning hormone health from guesswork into precision care. They’re bringing cutting-edge technology to an area long ignored by traditional healthcare—and they’re doing it in a way that’s scalable, inclusive, and impactful.”
The Future of Hormone Health
Hormona’s mission is bold: to make hormone tracking as routine as monitoring blood pressure or blood sugar—enabling early detection of imbalances, personalised care, and data-driven prevention strategies. As they continue to expand globally, the team is clear about what’s at stake.
Millions of women spend 25% more of their lives in poor health compared to men—a disparity driven in part by misdiagnosed or untreated hormonal issues. Hormona aims to change that by delivering accessible, ongoing hormone insights and closing one of the most critical gaps in women’s healthcare.
With science, technology, and community at its core, Hormona is not just building a product—it’s building the future of women’s health.
