A new series of free NHS-led webinars are giving people across Surrey the chance to learn about common women’s health conditions, from endometriosis to cervical screening.
Accessible, Expert-Led Education for All
The NHS in Surrey is running a free, GP-led webinar series to raise awareness of conditions that affect millions of women and people who menstruate. Organised by Surrey Heartlands Integrated Care System, the online sessions are designed to educate and empower.
Following the success of a menopause webinar earlier this year, which saw nearly 100 attendees, the series is set to continue into the autumn, covering a wide range of gynaecological health topics.
Vicky Williams, Associate Director for Women and Children at Surrey Heartlands, said:
“We are really excited to be able to provide these free informative sessions for members of the public to help inform on conditions that affect the lives of many of us every day.”
What to Expect from the Sessions
Each webinar is led by a GP and includes time for questions through a live Q&A. The sessions are open to everyone, with no prior medical knowledge required.
Upcoming topics for 2025 include:
September: Endometriosis and heavy menstrual bleeding in adolescence
October: Fertility and cervical screening
November: Menopause
Previous webinars have explored conditions such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), premenstrual syndrome (PMS), and premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD), and discussed the role of hormonal contraception in treatment.
The webinars aim to dispel myths, share practical tips, and provide clinically accurate, inclusive information in a safe, supportive space.
How to Take Part
The sessions are completely free, but registration is required via the Surrey Heartlands website.
Once registered, participants will receive a link to join the webinar and will have the opportunity to submit questions in advance or during the event.
This initiative is part of a wider effort to prioritise women’s health education and create accessible spaces for learning about conditions that are too often misunderstood or overlooked.
Why These Sessions Matter
Women’s health is often underrepresented in mainstream medical conversations, and many conditions go undiagnosed for years due to a lack of awareness or stigma. These sessions provide a vital opportunity to gain insight and seek support, whether you're experiencing symptoms yourself or supporting someone who is.
By offering evidence-based education in an approachable format, Surrey Heartlands is helping break down barriers to care and start more open conversations around menstrual, reproductive and hormonal health.
Next Steps
If you’re curious, concerned, or simply want to learn more about women’s health, these NHS-led webinars offer a safe and informative space to do just that, at no cost.
